Fallen is the debut studio album by American rock band Evanescence. It was released on March 4, 2003 through Wind-up Records.
The album became a worldwide commercial success and helped establish Evanescence as one of the most recognizable rock bands of the 2000s. Fallen featured a blend of alternative metal, gothic imagery, orchestral elements, and piano-driven songwriting led by vocalist Amy Lee.
The album produced several successful singles including "Bring Me to Life", "Going Under", and "My Immortal".
Background
[edit]Following years of independent demos and EP releases, Evanescence signed with Wind-up Records in the early 2000s. The band entered the studio with producer Dave Fortman to record their major-label debut.
Much of the material on Fallen originated from earlier demo recordings written by Amy Lee and Ben Moody during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Release
[edit]Fallen was released on March 4, 2003 in the United States. The album quickly gained attention after the success of the single "Bring Me to Life", which was featured in the film Daredevil.
The album later achieved multi-platinum certification in several countries and became one of the best-selling rock albums of the decade.
Singles

[edit]Released as the album’s lead single, "Bring Me to Life" became Evanescence’s breakthrough hit and won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Going Under

[edit]"My Immortal" became one of Evanescence’s most recognizable ballads and achieved major international chart success.
Everybody's Fool
[edit]Released in 2004, "Everybody's Fool" featured a music video criticizing celebrity culture and media image manipulation.
