The Bitter Truth
The Bitter Truth is the fifth studio album by Evanescence, released on March 26, 2021 through BMG Rights Management. It marked the band's first full studio album of new material in nearly a decade following Evanescence (2011).
The album was produced during the COVID-19 pandemic and featured a heavier and more experimental sound while retaining the band's signature gothic and orchestral influences. Recording sessions took place remotely throughout 2020 due to global restrictions and delays.

Background

Artwork
The album artwork features a close-up image of a mouth holding a pill marked with an "X-eyed" face symbol. The imagery became closely associated with the visual identity of the era.
