Sanctuary is the upcoming sixth studio album by American rock band Evanescence. It is scheduled to be released on June 5, 2026 through BMG. The album serves as the follow-up to The Bitter Truth (2021) and is the first Evanescence studio album to feature bassist Emma Anzai.[1]

The album was announced on April 10, 2026 alongside the release of the single "Who Will You Follow". Lead vocalist Amy Lee described the album as being "over three years in the making."[2]

Background

[edit]

In 2024, Evanescence confirmed they had returned to the studio to begin work on new material. Throughout 2025, the band shared updates from recording sessions and hinted at a darker and more emotional direction for the new music.[3]

The song "Afterlife" was released in March 2025 as part of the soundtrack for Netflix's Devil May Cry animated series and was later confirmed to appear on the album. Amy Lee referred to the song as "the first of many" new Evanescence tracks.[4]

Amy Lee later explained that the title Sanctuary reflects the idea of music serving as a refuge during difficult times.[5]

Release and promotion

[edit]

Sanctuary is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026. The album will be supported by a world tour beginning on June 11, 2026 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Support acts on select dates include Spiritbox, Nova Twins, Poppy, and K.Flay.[6]

The lead single, "Who Will You Follow", was released on April 10, 2026.[7]
