== History ==

=== Formation and early years (1995–2002) ===

Amy Lee and Ben Moody formed Evanescence after meeting at a youth camp in Arkansas. During the late 1990s, the band released several demo recordings and EPs which circulated online among fans.

Early releases included:

=== Fallen era (2003–2004) ===

Evanescence achieved worldwide success with the release of ''[[Fallen]]'' in 2003. The album featured the singles:

* "[[Everybody's Fool]]"

''Fallen'' sold millions of copies worldwide and earned the band multiple Grammy Awards.

=== The Open Door (2006–2009) ===

The band's second studio album, ''[[The Open Door]]'', was released in 2006. The album featured a darker and more experimental sound.

In 2017, Evanescence released ''[[Synthesis]]'', which reimagined older songs with orchestral arrangements and electronic production.

=== The Bitter Truth and Sanctuary (2020–present) ===

''[[The Bitter Truth]]'' was released in 2021 and marked the band's return to full rock production after a decade-long gap between studio albums.

In 2026, the band announced their sixth studio album, ''[[Sanctuary]]'', alongside the lead single "[[Who Will You Follow]]".
